Introduction. This article reveals the historical and architectural value of bridges over 100 years old using the example of a bridge in the village of Nyzhniv, Ivano-Frankivsk region. The article will provide a general description of the structure, data on its technical condition based on the results of a 2023 inspection; emphasize the importance of preserving this bridge after the future closure of it to road traffic and the construction of a new modern structure; highlight the world experience of preserving historical bridges with a change in their original function as road or railway bridges; provide proposals to balance holders regarding operational measures to preserve historical bridges as attractions.
Problem Statement. The lack of order and demand for the preservation of historically valuable bridges in Ukraine after they stop functioning as automobile or railway bridges and their transformation into attractions as monuments to bridge construction.
Purpose. Emphasize the need to preserve the old Nyzhniv Bridge and turn it into an attraction. Highlight world experience in this context. Provide proposals to balance holders on creating conditions for the preservation of historical bridges.
Materials and methods. An analysis of world experience in preserving historical bridges and transforming them into tourist attractions was conducted to highlight the problem of preserving and revitalization of the old Nyzhniv Bridge.
Results. Ways to preserve historic bridges have been identified in accordance with world experience.
Conclusions. The world experience of preserving historically valuable bridges that have been decommissioned as automobile or railway bridges and adapting them to a new function has been studied. It is proposed to scale the world experience to historically valuable bridges in Ukraine.
