The basis for composite beam analysis looks to be completed and closed. Contrary to that, the presented method shows a parallel path, which can be treated as a generalization or as independent approach to an ‘old problem’. The implement of the proposed analysis is introduced simple geometrical measure of shear connectors’ flexibility. In the first part of the paper, assuming material and geometrical identity of two beam elements forming a composite beam, 3 trivial examples are considered. As a result of this consideration it is possible to shape a new method. The second part is devoted to a typical bridge girder, which consists of mutually cooperating concrete slab and steel plate girder. The basic elements of composite beam analysis are derived. The simple example, in the case of pure bending, shows in details the difference between classical approach and the procedure introduced here. Concluding, advantages and disadvantages are listed.
