Technical monuments, in general, generate many maintenance and servable problems. In this group are to be found old and historical bridges. For years, they are built into local landscapes, creating a background of everyday inhabitants’ life. It is very difficult to decide which of them is worthy enough, what ever it means, to be not replaced by a new structure. All the time, their existence testifies for the past engineers achievements. In the eastern part of Poland, in The Bialski Poviat, there are five places where the historical bridges of different type are located. The short survey of those bridges is presented. Among them, the Pauline’s Closter surrounding in Leśna Podlaska is distinguished. The Closter buildings are historically interesting, but also there, we can meet four small historical bridges date from XVIIIth c. One of those bridges, culvert in real, is located in the local road. The road has to be rebuilt appropriately to contemporary traffic needs. In the paper the authors’ proposal shows that is possible to achieve simultaneously the improvement of road and traffic safety conditions as well as to preserve this historical structure for the future. All this, could be done by means of modern traffic engineering concepts and contemporary technology.
