Summary

Introduction. Due to the cancellation of GOST 5781-82 on periodic profile reinforcement for reinforced concrete structures in Ukraine in 2019, a situation arose when the implementation of design, construction and installation works on bridges was suspended due to the lack of an alternative to the reinforcement specified in GOST 5781-82. The use of the specified reinforcement is regulated by the current state building regulations DBN V.2.3-14:2006 «Transport structures. Bridges and pipes. Design rules». The State Enterprise «Ukrainian Research and Training Center for Standardization, Certification and Quality Problems» (SE «UkrNDNC») temporarily restored the validity of GOST 5781-82 while this problem was being resolved.

Problem Statement. At that time, if we do not take into account GOST 5781-82, the only document according to which Ukrainian manufacturers of reinforcing bars manufactured reinforcement was DSTU 3760:2019 «Reinforcing bars for reinforced concrete structures. General technical conditions». Given this, there was a need to finalize the provisions of DSTU 3760:2019 and, after that, to take into account the provisions of the updated DSTU 3760:2019 when developing amendments to DBN V.2.3 14:2006. At the same time, the search for the possibility of using other reinforcement, other than reinforcement according to DSTU 3760:2019, continued.

Purpose. To analyze DBN V.2.3-14:2006 in terms of requirements for reinforcing steel of periodic profile for reinforced concrete structures of bridges and pipes, standards for reinforcing steel of periodic profile. To analyze characteristics of reinforcing steel of periodic profile for reinforced concrete structures of bridges in DBN V.2.3-14:2006 and standards of Ukraine before and after the entry into force of Amendment No. 1 DBN V.2.3-14:2006 on 01.12.2024. To establish the features of the application of reinforcing steel of periodic profile in DBN V.2.3 14:2006 with Amendment No. 1.

Materials and methods. The research is based on the analysis of regulatory, technical documents, and literary sources on the application of reinforcing steel of periodic profile for reinforced concrete structures of bridges and pipes.

Results. The provisions of DBN V.2.3-14:2006 in terms of requirements for reinforcing steel of periodic profile for reinforced concrete structures of bridge and pipes and standards for reinforcing steel of periodic profile have been analysed. Characteristics of reinforcing steel of periodic profile for reinforced concrete structures bridge in DBN V.2.3-14:2006 and standards of Ukraine before and after the entry into force of Amendment No. 1 to DBN V.2.3-14:2006 on 01.12.2024 have been analysed. The features of the application of reinforcing steel of periodic profile in DBN V.2.3 14:2006 with Amendment No. 1 have been established. It is shown that with the cancellation of the interstate standard GOST 5781-82 for reinforcing steel of periodic profile, significant problems have arisen during the design and construction of bridges. The current national standards of Ukraine differ from each other and establish requirements for reinforcing steel of different characteristics. In order to be able to use reinforcing steel in accordance with DSTU 3760:2019, the provisions of the standard had to be changed. After the amendment to DSTU 3760:2019, reinforcing steel can be used both for structures that do not calculate on fatigue and for those that calculate on fatigue.

Conclusions. According to DBN V.2.3-14:2006 with Amendment No. 1, for reinforcing reinforced concrete bridge structures, periodic profile reinforcement can be used in accordance with DSTU 9130:2021; DSTU 3760:2019 with Amendments No. 1, No. 2; DSTU EN 10080:2009 (EN 10080:2005, IDT).
The established approach to ensuring the deformability of reinforcing steel makes it possible to use reinforcement that meets any of these standards. The same applies to structures that calculate on fatigue. It is allowed to use reinforcing steel that meets any of these standards if these requirements are met.
Also, it is possible to use new reinforcing steels according to the relevant regulatory technical specifications in case it is not possible to use reinforcing steel according to DSTU, which is provided for by the DBN V.2.3 14:2006 with Amendment No. 1.
