Introduction. Thousands of bridges built in the twentieth century according to standard designs are Introduction. Thousands of bridges built in the 20th century according to standard designs are operated on the motor roads of Ukraine. Analysis of bridge span on public roads will allow determining the list of actual standard designs, identifying shortcomings of these designs with the further formation of recommendations regarding proper operation of these bridges.
Problem Statement. In the conditions of limited funding of the road industry of Ukraine, the age of highway bridges is constantly increasing, the number of defects in structures is growing. The largest number of defects is concentrated in the bridges span. The main part of bridge span consists of prefabricated reinforced concrete beams manufactured at the reinforced concrete plants by typical designs developed in the middle of last century. As a result of many years of bridges operation, the shortcomings of these designs are revealed, which reduce the lifetime of bridge span and bridges in general. The studying of this process requires a systematic approach.
The Analytical Expert Bridge Management System (AESUM) operates in the Ukravtodor system. All information of bridges inspection results on public roads accumulates in this software complex, there are the data of facility elements defects.
Purpose. The purpose of the research is based on the analysis of the highway bridges inspections data which are stored in AESUM to determine the problematic standard designs based on which the built bridges are in unsatisfactory condition.
Materials and methods. Standard designs of reinforced concrete bridge span that built and operated on the roads of Ukraine are considered, and a comparative analysis of the features of these designs is performed taking into account the impact on the bridges operation safety. According to the results of the analysis of data of highway bridge inspections using the AESUM database, the defects of bridge span that reduce their loading capacity and can cause the destruction of bridges were determined.
Results and conclusion. From the data of inspections accumulated in the AESUM database, standard bridge spans which require the highest costs for rehabilitation of their operating capacity were identified. This will allow determining the facilities that need to be repaired first and will ensure reliable and trouble-free operation of highway bridges.
